v0.20.0 — Charcoal, tar and the smithy 2026-10-06

PinesScots pines now grow in the drier parts of the forest and along sandy shores. Felled, they leave a resinous stump: chop it out for stumpwood.
CharcoalHold Z with 8 pieces of firewood to build a charcoal stack. Click it to cover and light it, leave it 8 minutes, then rake out 4 pieces of charcoal. The steward buys charcoal at 3 öre.
TarFour fieldstones line a tar pit. Pack 4 to 8 pieces of stumpwood into it and light it. After 6 minutes you get a keg of tar for every 2 pieces, plus a piece of charcoal. The steward pays 8 öre a keg.
The smithyEvery manor smithy has a forge and an anvil. Heap charcoal in the forge (wood won't do): each piece keeps it hot 4 minutes. With a smith's hammer in hand, click the anvil to see what it makes: axes, felling axes, knives, crowbars, hammers, saws, 20 nails, locks and shackles from bar iron, or a bar welded from 3 pieces of scrap. It also mends a worn tool back to 100%, which the grindstone can't. Each job burns some of the forge's charcoal.
Your own smithyEight fieldstones build a forge. The steward sells an anvil (40 öre), a smith's hammer (8), bar iron (6 a bar) and nails (10 for 2 öre).
SawhorseThree planks build a sawhorse. With a frame saw (20 öre), a log on the ground beside it becomes 3 planks instead of the 2 you get by splitting.
NailsA door now takes 2 nails, a chest 4 and a crate 2, as well as the planks. Workstations and recipes use what's in your hands, your pouches and on the ground beside you.
Taking stonework apartStoves, grindstones, forges, tar pits and anvils come apart with a crowbar, not an axe.

v0.19.0 — The Baronland wiki 2026-10-06

baronwiki.kyrts.comA wiki of the whole game is generated from the game's own data at every update, so its numbers always match what's live. It has every item (where it comes from, what it's for, its price), everything you can make and take apart, the things that stand on the ground, ground and walls, the production chains, the steward's trade, the manors and their roads, clothes and warmth, and the update log.
GuidesHand-written guides: your first day, buying your freedom, day and night and the cold, building and taking apart, fights and the lock-up, and the controls. Their numbers come from the game too.
SearchType in the box at the top to find any item, thing, recipe, manor or guide.
In the gameThe Wiki link under the key list opens it.

v0.18.0 — The right tool for the job 2026-10-06

CrowbarsThe steward sells a crowbar for 15 öre. Right-click with it to prise up plank floors, lever up limestone floors and cobbles, and lever a stone wall apart course by course. You get the boards or stones back. It also takes doors off their hinges and log walls apart.
The right toolAn axe takes wood apart (log walls, doors) but can't get under floorboards. Holding the wrong tool, the game tells you which one works, and the hint over a floor or wall says so too.
Stone walls and axesSmashing a limestone wall with an axe now takes about 80 blows and most of a new axe when you're fed and warm. Tired, hungry or cold, it takes the whole axe.
GrindstonesEvery manor smithy has a grindstone, and four fieldstones build your own (hold Z with stones). Click it holding a worn axe, knife or crowbar to grind the edge back 30 points. Each grinding wears a little iron away, so the best edge it will take drops from 80% by 10 points each time.
Long jobsA long job, like levering a wall apart, no longer gets stuck if the server sleeps in the middle of it.

World: reset (everyone starts with a new character; logins kept). Tests: verify passed; live test passed.

v0.17.0 — Roads to Reval and a map 2026-10-05

RoadsEvery manor now has a dirt road to Reval. It starts at the far end of the village and runs round the sea, the lakes and the bogs to the Viru gate (from the east) or the Karja gate (from the south and west). Roads from farther manors join the nearer ones, so they form two main roads into town.
SignpostsA signpost where each road leaves its village says how far Reval is. Where two roads meet, one says which way to Reval and which way to the manor. Outside each gate, one lists the manors down that road. Click a signpost to read it. They belong to the Crown.
MinimapA map in the top-right corner shows the coast and lakes, the roads, the manors, Reval and you. Use the mouse wheel over it to zoom.
Big mapTab (or a click on the minimap) opens a map of Harrien and Wierland. Click Reval, a manor or any spot to head there; right-click to stop.
Which wayYou start out heading for Reval. An arrow at the edge of your view points the way with the distance. The status box says how far it is, which way, and whether you're on the road.
Quieter lanternsThe lanterns the steward and the workers carry after dark no longer crackle like a fire. Fires now crackle with dry clicks instead of little notes.

World: reset (everyone starts with a new character; logins kept). Tests: verify passed; live test passed.

v0.16.0 — People the SS13 way: looks, clothes, things in hand 2026-10-05

Choose your lookWhen you make your character, pick skin, hair (short, long, tied back, braids or bald), hair colour and a beard. A preview shows you from three sides, and "Another look" picks one at random.
Built in layersAs in SS13, everyone is a body in briefs with clothes, a beard, hair and a hat drawn on top. People now stand in one tile, the way they do in SS13.
Clothes you wearYou start in a linen shirt, woollen breeches and pastlad (leather moccasins). The steward sells a kuub (a long wool coat, 12 öre), a woollen cap (3), a felt hat (6) and leather boots (10). Hold clothes and press E to put them on. Click the small picture of yourself by your hands to show your five clothing slots; click a slot with an empty hand to take that thing off. Everyone sees what you wear.
Clothes keep you warmEvery piece keeps out some of the night's cold. A kuub and a cap over your shirt halve the chill outdoors.
Things in handWhat you hold shows in the hand you hold it in: an axe in your right hand, bread in your left. Workers carry their loads the same way.
Stewards and clerksStewards wear a blue coat and a felt hat, and the town clerk wears black.

World: reset (everyone starts with a new character; logins kept). Tests: verify passed; live test passed.

v0.15.0 — Intents: shove, grab, tie up 2026-10-05

IntentsAs in SS13, pick what a click does to a person with 1–4 or the buttons by your hands: Help, Disarm, Grab or Harm. F switches between help and harm, so the old fight mode still works.
ShoveDisarm pushes someone a step away. With a wall, a table or another person behind them, they go down for a moment and drop what they hold.
Grab and dragGrab (or Ctrl+click) with an empty hand takes hold of someone. Click again for a firm grip so they can't walk away. Walk to drag them along, click a bench or bed to sit them down in it, and press Q to let go. You can drag your own furniture the same way.
Tie them upThe steward sells rope (3 öre) and iron shackles (15 öre). Click someone with them to tie their hands; it's quicker if they're down or held fast. Tied hands can't use anything, and someone tied into a seat or bed can't get up.
ResistPress B (or the Resist button) to struggle out of a grip, or work your hands free of a rope (half a minute) or shackles (longer). Anyone can untie you with Help and an empty hand.
AimThe little body doll (or the numpad) picks head, chest, arms or legs. A blow to the head hurts more, one to the arm can make them drop what they hold, one to the leg can put them down.
Not stuckIf you log off locked in a room you have no key for, the manor household lets you out by the morning.

World: reset (everyone starts with a new character; logins kept). Tests: verify passed; live test passed.

v0.14.0 — Locks, keys and the lock-up 2026-10-05

Locks and keysThe steward sells a lock with its key for 12 öre. Click your own door, chest or crate with the lock to fit it, then click it holding the key to lock or unlock it. A locked door stays shut and a locked chest stays closed for everyone without the key. Your key shows its lock's number.
The lock-upEvery manor now has a stone lock-up by the road: a guard room between two cells with iron-barred doors you can see through. Reval has a town gaol. The cells are locked, and the steward keeps the keys.

World: reset (everyone starts with a new character; logins kept). Tests: verify passed; live test passed.

v0.13.0 — The crafting wheel and furniture 2026-10-05

The crafting wheelHold Z with planks, logs, firewood or fieldstones in your hand: a wheel shows what you can make. Aim at one with the mouse and let go of Z. When there are more than fit, "More…" turns the page. A quick tap of Z still eats your bread.
See it before you buildWhat you picked follows the mouse as a see-through picture, green where it fits and red where it doesn't. Click to build it. Escape puts the plan aside.
FurniturePlanks make tables, benches, stools, beds, chests, crates and signposts; a log makes a log bench; six fieldstones make a stove of your own.
It all worksSit on a bench or stool to rest (you heal faster, and a meal at a table fills you more). Lie in a bed to heal fast and stay warm at night. Put things on tables. Keep things in chests and crates. Write a message on your signpost for everyone to read. Right-click your own furniture with an axe to take it apart.
Furnished housesVillage barn-dwellings, manor houses and town houses now have beds, tables, benches and stools. Anyone can sit in them, but they belong to the household.

World: reset (everyone starts with a new character; logins kept). Tests: verify passed; live test passed.

v0.12.0 — Day, night and the fire 2026-10-05

Day and nightA game day passes every 3 real hours: dusk falls, then about 50 minutes of dark night, then dawn. The status box shows the time and how long until the next change. At night you only make out people's names when they stand by you or by a light; the steward, the town clerk and the household's workers carry lanterns.
CampfiresHold 2 pieces of firewood and click open ground: you lay a fire in a ring of stones and light it. It lights up the dark and crackles. One piece burns about 6 minutes; click the fire with firewood to feed it, or it burns down to ashes. Not in a manor's court, not indoors and not inside Reval.
WarmthAt night you get cold out in the open (slower indoors). Cold, you work slower and hit softer; by a fire you warm up quickly. Bread eaten by a fire fills you half as much again. Firewood is now worth keeping back as well as selling.
StovesBarn-dwellings, kitchens and town houses have stoves. The village families keep theirs lit from evening till morning, so the village glows at night and anyone can come in to warm up. Anyone can feed a stove firewood to light it in the day.

World: reset (everyone starts with a new character; logins kept). Tests: verify passed; live test passed.

v0.11.0 — Giving and paying 2026-10-05

Hand things overHold something and click another player: you hold it out to them. They choose "Take it" or "No thanks", and it goes into their free hand. People nearby see the deal.
Pay peopleRight-click another player standing next to you, type how many öre, and press Enter: the coins go from your purse to theirs. Hire a friend to split logs, or pay for bread.
Nobody wakes up on the clerkNew arrivals are never put down on the tile where the steward or the town clerk stands.

World: reset (everyone starts with a new character; logins kept). Tests: verify passed; live test passed.

v0.10.0 — The manor's big order of the day 2026-10-05

A big order every dayEach manor's steward posts one big job a game day (3 hours), for example 40 planks for the new granary floor. It shows over the court and in your status box, with how much is in and how long is left.
Work on it togetherEverything you sell him of that kind counts towards it, paid as usual, even after he has enough for his daily needs. When it's filled, everyone who helped shares a bonus by how much they brought, and the whole country hears who brought the most.
Fill it, or elseA filled order means a bigger one tomorrow; a missed one makes the lord unhappy and the next one smaller.
FixedNews for everyone (freedom, big orders) no longer turns into a box floating over the map.

World: reset (everyone starts with a new character; logins kept). Tests: verify passed; live test passed.

v0.9.0 — The household's workers 2026-10-05

Nothing mends itselfWhen someone breaks part of a manor, the steward shouts for workers. A peasant sets out from the village farm nearest to it, walks to the gap, and you can watch and hear him clear the rubble and rebuild it. Damage that didn't break through is mended the same way once nobody has struck it for a while.
The household tidies upThings left lying on a manor's ground (the court, its buildings) for about five minutes are picked up by a worker and carried to the manor's stores. Pick up your things in time.
The manor's storesThe steward's panel shows what is in store. Workers use logs, planks and stone from the stores when they rebuild.
The old axe is backThe axe and the felling axe look like the axe from before the art update again, drawn in the game's colours.

World: reset (everyone starts with a new character; logins kept). Tests: verify passed; live test passed.

v0.8.0 — Real trees, and freedom from Reval 2026-10-05

The game starts afreshEarly updates reset the whole game for everyone: choose your manor and a name again. Your login stays the same.
Trees are real treesSpruces now stand on the forest floor as tall trees, in front of the ground, and a tree in front of you turns see-through. Fell one and it tips over with a crash, leaving 3 logs and a stump.
Forests grow backLeave a stump and a seedling comes up after a while, then grows into a spruce. Chop the stump out with your axe to clear the ground for building.
BouldersGranite boulders sit on the ground as objects you walk around. Something heavy breaks them into fieldstones.
Freedom comes from townThe lord will never sell you your freedom. Save 4 riksdaler, walk to Reval (about 15 km west of Maardu) and find the town clerk at his table by the town hall door. He writes you into the town's book of residents, and the council won't hand you back.
RevalA walled town with three gates, cobbled streets, burgher houses and the town hall on the square. The town guard won't let anyone break its walls.

World: reset (everyone starts with a new character; logins kept). Tests: verify passed; live test passed.

v0.7.0 — Your first day: work, pay, bread and freedom 2026-10-04

The steward paysHold firewood, planks or logs and click the steward in the manor court: he pays 1 öre each and writes you into today's ledger. Each manor only wants so much; when he has enough he tells you which manor still wants some.
FirewoodRight-click logs with an axe to split one into 3 pieces of firewood. Clicking still splits one into 2 planks.
His shopClick him with an empty hand to see what he wants today and who has worked for the manor. Buy rye bread (2 öre), an axe (10 öre) or a felling axe (30 öre, fells a spruce in two blows).
Your freedomSave 4 riksdaler (192 öre) and buy your freedom from your own manor's steward. You become a free peasant, everyone hears about it, and stewards pay you half as much again.
HungerYou get hungry while you play (not while you're logged out). Hungry, you work slower and hit softer. Hold bread and press Z to eat. New characters start with a loaf.
Breaking costs youBreak part of a manor and its steward keeps 3 öre of your pay for it. You can't buy your freedom while you owe your own manor.
Sounds and numbersChopping, a tree falling, stone, doors, building, coins and eating all make a sound ("Sound: on/off" at the bottom of the side panel). Your pay rises over your head.
What to do nextThe box at the top left shows your purse, how close you are to freedom, your hunger, and your next step until you've sold a few loads.
Rounder groundMeadows, paths and forest edges now meet in rounded, ragged shapes instead of squares, and the cobbled court and water no longer show tile edges. Wall tops are plain stone again (no windows or plinths on top).

World: kept. Everyone starts with an empty purse. Tests: verify passed; live test passed.

v0.6.0 — One look for the whole world 2026-10-04

Everything drawn in one styleGround, walls, doors, boulders and the things you carry are now all drawn by hand in one set of colours, at the same scale and lit from the same side, so they finally belong together.
Crisp pixelsZoom goes in whole steps, so pixels stay sharp and tiles meet cleanly. The mouse wheel still zooms.
Cobbles and spruceThe manor court is properly cobbled, and forests read as one canopy of spruce instead of a pattern of squares.

World: kept (only the pictures changed). Tests: verify passed, including the new art check; live test passed.

v0.5.0 — What's new, in the game 2026-10-04

This panelAfter a new version goes live, the first time you log in you see what changed. Close it with × or Esc; it won't show again until the next version.
"What's new" linkBottom of the side panel, next to Log out: opens the latest update again, with a link to earlier ones.

World: kept. Tests: verify passed; live test passed.

v0.4.0 — Joined walls 2026-10-04

Walls join upWalls now join their neighbours the way SS13's do, so manor houses, barns and the log walls you build look like one continuous wall with proper corners and ends instead of separate squares. Log walls join log walls; stone and plastered walls join each other; every wall joins doors.
You see the wall's faceSeen from above, a wall shows its top, and its front (south) face shows wherever it doesn't carry on southwards, so rooms are easier to read.
Doors no longer confuse your positionFixed: walking into a shut door could leave the game thinking you were still in the doorway, so the door wouldn't shut and things next to you were "out of reach".

World: kept. Tests: verify passed (browser 51/51, protocol 25/25; one browser check was too strict about the manor door being shut before a raid and now accepts an open door too). Live test passed.

v0.3.1 — The autopilot takes over 2026-10-04

Nothing new in the game itselfThis release sets up the tools that let Claude keep building the game on Tori's PC: safe releases that test the live site and roll back on their own, and an autopilot that works through the roadmap twice a day.

World: kept. Tests: verify passed; live test passed.

v0.3.0 — Everything breakable, generated manors 2026-10-04

Hit anything with anythingTrees, walls, doors, boulders, people and yourself. Breaking goes blow by blow (one every 0.8 s) and cracks show the damage. An axe gets through a stone wall eventually, but it wears down and breaks into scrap iron.
Progress bars only for makingBuilding, taking apart (right-click) and splitting logs show a bar; breaking doesn't.
Fight mode (F)Every click is a blow. Bruises heal over time; enough blows knock you out. No attacking other players on manor land.
Generated manors and villagesBuildings follow structural rules (wall spans, inner walls, doors in straight walls, every room reachable): a manor house over a court, service buildings, a smithy apart, farmsteads along the road.
Blended groundGrass, dirt, fields, forest, sand and water meet with ragged edges.

World: reset (new manors). Characters kept. Tests: 46/46 browser, 25/25 protocol, live test passed.

v0.2.0 — Names and the first foundations 2026-10-04

Names from your manorYou pick a given name; your family name is your manor ("Jaan of Maardu"). Letters only, capitalised.
Things in your handsItems lie on the ground and go in two hands, belt, back and two pouches, with SS13 keys (Q drop, X swap, E equip, Z use, T say, Y whisper, M emote).
Materials loopFell a spruce for logs, build log walls, split planks, build floors and doors.
SS13 doors and chatDoors open when you walk into them; what you do and hear shows in the chat log.

World: reset. Tests: 39/39 browser test.

v0.1.0 — First slice 2026-10-04

Accounts and manorsRegister, pick one of 8 real manors on a period map, and start as a landless serf.
The real mapEstonia and northern Livonia from real geography, generated as players discover it.
MultiplayerSee and talk to each other, build and break, raid NPC manors and watch them repair.
