Building and taking apart
Everything in Baronland is built tile by tile from real materials and comes apart again, as in SS13.
Building
- Hold a stack of material: logs, planks, firewood or fieldstones. If a recipe needs something else as well (a door's nails), have it in your other hand, a pouch, or on the ground beside you.
- Hold Z: the crafting wheel shows what it can make. Aim at one and let go. ("More…" turns the page.)
- A see-through picture follows your mouse: green where it fits, red where it doesn't. Click to build there. A bar over your head shows the work; walking away stops it.
What you build is yours: nobody else can break it or take it apart. Every recipe and its cost is on Making.
Furniture that works
- Benches and stools: sit and rest (you heal twice as fast).
- Beds: lie down to heal four times as fast and stay warm.
- Tables: put things on them, and a meal sitting at one fills you more.
- Chests and crates: keep things in them.
- Signposts: write a message on yours.
- Grindstones: sharpen a worn tool.
- Sawhorses, forges and anvils: see Charcoal, tar and the smithy.
Locks
The steward sells a lock with its key for 12 öre. Click your own door, chest or crate with the lock to fit it. Then click it with the key to lock or unlock it. There is only the one key.
Taking apart
Right-click with the right tool:
- An axe: log walls, doors and your wooden furniture. You get the logs or planks back (and a door's nails).
- A crowbar (15 öre): prises up plank floors and levers up limestone floors, cobbles and stone walls, course by course, for their stones. It also lifts doors off their hinges, and takes apart stoves, grindstones, forges, tar pits and anvils.
Smashing things in a fight gives less (firewood, a couple of stones, rubble). An axe on a stone wall takes about 80 blows and most of the axe. Full details are on Ground and walls.
Other people's things
You can't break or take apart what another player built. You can break into the NPC manors, but that's a raid: everyone near hears it, the household's workers come to rebuild, and the steward keeps 3 öre from your next pay for each part you broke. Reval's town guard won't let you touch its walls and houses at all.
