Your first day
You wake up as a Lostreiber, a landless serf, in front of a real Swedish-era manor. You own an axe on your belt, a knife and a loaf of rye bread in your pouches, and the clothes on your back. The steward wants wood, and wood is money.
Wood for the steward
- Take the axe off your belt: Shift+E.
- Walk into the forest and click a spruce. Three blows and it falls away from you, leaving 3 logs and a stump.
- Click a log lying on the ground with the axe to split it into 2 planks, or right-click it for 3 pieces of firewood.
- Pick the wood up (click it with an empty hand, or with the same wood to gather a stack) and walk back to the court.
- Click the steward while you hold the wood. He pays 1 öre for each piece of firewood, plank or log, up to what he wants today.
When a steward has enough, he points you to another manor. Every manor also has a big order of the day over its court: everything you sell him counts toward it, and when it's filled the bonus is shared by how much each person brought. See The steward.
Eat
You get hungry while you play: from full to empty in about an hour. Hungry, you hit softer and work slower. Eat bread with Z (or click yourself while holding it). The steward sells a loaf for 2 öre. Bread eaten by a fire fills you more, and so does a meal sitting at a table.
The night
A game day lasts three real hours, and the night is dark and cold. Before dusk, keep some firewood back: two pieces lay a campfire. See Day, night, fire and cold.
What next
Save 4 riksdaler and walk the road to Reval: the town clerk there can make you a free man. See Buying your freedom.
Finding your way
The minimap in the top-right corner shows the roads, the manors and Reval. Tab opens the big map, where you can click a place to head there, and an arrow at the edge of your view points the way.
